It’s been a while since I shared my findings about the use of technology in movies and TV series. Perhaps I’ve seen too many magical Python command lines that build a nuclear plant while solving global hunger. At least MacGyver used a paperclip and a marshmallow! Unfortunately, nothing I’ve seen lately felt interesting enough to post about until yesterday, when I decided to take the plunge.

Indeed, I decided to rewatch the best Star Wars series, which is Andor. The show, created and written by Tony Gilroy and directed by Toby Haynes, Ariel Kleiman, Benjamin Caron, and others, features an incredible all-star cast, including Diego Luna (Cassian Andor), Denise Gough (Dedra Meero), Stellan Skarsgård (Luthen Rael), Kyle Soller (Syril Karn), and many, many more!

From Season 1, Episode 1 (“Kassa”), I noticed that the Empire’s second-zone representatives still use TI calculators, which seem to serve as some communication devices. That’s longevity! It appears to be a TI-1200, and I appreciate the production team’s clever prop-making. Nice touch! Maybe I’ll spot it again as I watch the misfits of the Primor Security private security firm mess things up on Morlana One on behalf of the Empire. Stay tuned for more retro-future props as I continue watching what I believe is the best Star Wars show to date, available only on Disney+.
