Screen Rant, an entertainment news website, and YouTube channel, recently published a list of failed and successful prediction in movies of what the future will be: 10 Movies That Were Horribly Wrong About The Future. You can see it here. As usual, it is a great piece, but they missed one! Indeed, in Back to the Future Part II, SR comes back on the successful predictions and the flops. Yeah, we can tell for sure, since October 2019 is behind us. One credit SR failed to give to the writers, is that the Hip-retro-80 -café absolutely nailed the retro-computing bonanza! Don’t you see the Apple Macintosh Classic! It even has push keys 😉

However, we missed the retro vacuum cleaner hype (compare the Black & Decker DustBuster in the still). Which may be actually fun, everybody engaging in a bit of past time retro vacuuming activities… 😉 That said, there are collectors for these, but, I believe, it’s more about 1940s and 1950s stuff that offers just that bit more in terms of visual delights.
Now that you mentioned it, I remember my grand parent’s vacuum cleaner from the ’60s in Hungary, it was shaped like a rocket or a torpedo. Don’t remember the brand, either a soviet clone of an Electrolux – or the original. Regardless, you are in the right, I searched, and there is a market for that on eBay!
